Emergency Unit

Emergency Unit

The ZAKA Emergency Unit includes thousands of volunteers who can be mobilized in case of emergencies, such as wars or earthquakes, especially during the initial days, to provide assistance to the civilian population.

ZAKA is committed to establishing national emergency volunteer frameworks for domestic missions, composed of volunteers exempt from military service. These units, which adopt a hierarchical and functional structure, enable these volunteers to contribute to the community within a civil aid framework.

Volunteers receive training in leadership and emergency response, incorporating values related to military discipline and hierarchy, command and control, and becoming familiar with emergency services and their operations in disaster situations.

As an organization of volunteers recognized for being ready to intervene in any scenario that may affect the State of Israel (while praying and hoping that it never happens), we at ZAKA believe that even those who do not wish to deal with the injured and the deceased in normal times can still contribute by dedicating themselves to others and being mutually responsible for one another.

Volunteering in the Emergency Unit is intended for the general public. Volunteers receive annual training and are recognized and insured as ZAKA volunteers in all aspects.
