What does ZAKA do?

Save lives

In any medical emergency, every minute counts, with the first four minutes often making the difference between life and death. ZAKA paramedics are on alert 24/7, deployed throughout the country.

Respect the deceased

True virtue (Chesed Shel Emes) is the emotionally intense and demanding work for which ZAKA is best known. This unique unit’s mission is to honor the deceased and ensure a full Jewish burial for those who die suddenly and tragically.

Volunteering in Israel

In addition to its work honoring the deceased, the volunteer organization ZAKA has developed over the years to offer specialized search and rescue units, ready to respond 24/7, across the country, both on land and at sea.

International Search and Rescue

The ZAKA International Rescue Unit, based in Tel Aviv, operates with a specially trained team of volunteer paramedics and search and rescue professionals, available 24/7, ready to respond promptly to major international mass incidents wherever they occur.
