A moment of truth - Identifying victims of a disaster
As part of search and rescue operations, ZAKA quickly realized the need to reach inaccessible locations with ordinary vehicles. In 2009, the ZAKA Jeep Unit was established. Dozens of volunteers with 4X4 vehicles joined the unit, aiding in the search for missing persons in forests, deserts, and other inaccessible terrains. The unit also assists in transporting diving equipment and boats to the coast when necessary. Throughout the year, the volunteers participate in numerous search and rescue missions. The unit also has many all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) used to access difficult terrains.
Additionally, the unit is known for its efforts to bring joy to underprivileged and disabled children by taking them each year for a day of entertainment during Hanukkah in collaboration with other volunteer organizations.
